The Great Bend Rotary Club met on June 19. Pastor Kennedy Mukwindidza of the Minneapolis United Methodist Church spoke at the meeting.
He outlined his church’s involvement in their project in Zimbabwe to move the people there from subsistence to sustenance through the Compassionate Consultation Initiative Project, begun in 1998 in Manhattan. The project includes helping farmers raise and produce sunflowers for the oil and feed, scholarships for students, goat raising and canning of local produce for sale, and training in sewing, carpentry, bookkeeping and other skills. He also detailed his own struggle to further his own education both in Zimbabwe and the U.S., culminating in a PhD degree. More information on the project is available at ccipzimbabwe.org.
