Great Bend VFW Auxiliary

Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 3111 met at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Post home.
Debra J. Davis was accepted into membership.
The charter was draped in memory of Auxiliary members Delores Waggoner and Ann Edwards.
The following donations were made: $100 to each of the following, V.A. Hospitals in Leavenworth, Topeka, Wichita, Winfield and Fort Dodge soldiers Home for Christmas; Hungry Heart  Soup Kitchen, $100 to help with Christmas dinner; and “Military Moms”, $50 to help with postage.
The Auxiliary furnished cookies for the hunters safety course held at the Great Bend Recreation Center on Dec. 4.
Christmas gifts will be taken for the veterans in the following nursing homes: Cherry Village, Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, River Bend Assisted Living and Sterling House.
Chairman Pearl White gave a report on the “Buddy “ poppy sales held on Nov. 6 through Nov. 13,
Thelma Hipp, Americanism Chairman, reminded members to fly their flags half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7.
The next meeting will be on Dec. 28 at the Post Home.
