Local 4-Hers compete in air rifle match

Barton County 4-H air rifle instructor Scott Smith helps four of the Barton County shooters as they start the kneeling position.

On March 18, 13 members of the Barton County 4-H Air Rifle program participated in the 22nd Annual Pawnee County Shootout in Larned.
In the 8- to 10-year-old division, Cayman Rowan from Ellinwood and Parker Dicks from Great Bend represented Barton County. Dicks placed 1st and Rowan placed 3rd.
In the 11- and 12-year-old division, Barton County was represented by Noah Deines from Hoisington.
In the 13- and 14-year-old division, Barton County was represented by Woodson Corbett and Gus Corbett from Ellinwood, and Will Clark, Dalton Dicks and Nick Kohman, all from Great Bend. Dicks placed first, Woodson Corbett was second and Clark was third.
In the 15-and-older division, Katelyn Reh and Lake Lyman from Ellinwood, and Caleb Straub, Collin Hammond and Evan Hammond, all from Great Bend, represented Barton County. Reh placed first, Lyman placed second and Straub placed third.
The Barton County four-person team, Katelyn Reh, Lake Lyman, Dalton Dicks and Caleb Straub, placed first in the team division.
