Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met March 15 at the home of Reta Lucas. President Brenda Black led the meeting.
Lois Johnson reported the March social planned for March 19, was a Girls’ Afternoon Out to play Mexican Dominoes at 12:30 p.m. at First Christian Church.
Janice Walker, BSP City Council representative asked for members preferences for the Founder’s Day menu. Linda Jerke reported she is setting up the Founder’s Day program, which will be tours of Barton Community College’s Library and Student Support Services since the celebration will take place in the Plaza de Cavanaugh community room in the college’s Learning Resource Center.
Susan Coulson presented a program on the “Effects of Wind Chill,” including descriptions of frostbite and hypothermia, treatment of those effects, and safety guidelines for being exposed to cold weather.
Jeanne Schmitt presented the program, “Kansas: Celebrating 150 Years.” She gave a brief history of the state and noted Kansas has the second largest state highway system in the country. She said Kansas had more tornadoes between January 1950 and October 2006 than any other state, and has more than 50 tornadoes a year. The state celebrated its sesquicentennial on Jan. 29.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. on April 5 at the CPI Annex with Karen Reif as hostess and co-hostess. Janice Walker will present the program. Linda Jerke and Reta Lucas will receive the Preceptor Degree Ritual and Janis Link will be honored with the Silver Circle Ceremony.
