Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Oct. 7, at the home of Cindy Meitler. The program included roasting marshmallows and making s’mores around a fire pit on the patio with members sharing what they liked best about autumn. Meitler pointed out that s’mores were first mentioned in the 1927 Girl Scout Handbook.
Members donated money in October for the purchase of Legos for the ID classroom at Great Bend Middle School. The chapter gave cash and other supplies to the Golden Belt Humane Society in September.
Six members of Preceptor Pi took part in the chapter’s October social -- a Grass Roots Tour of Lucas and Russell. The tour included shopping at antique shops, lunch at Waudby’s and a visit to Brant’s Meat Marked in Russell, and the Garden of Eden and a stop at the Bowl Plaza in Lucas.
The chapter met Oct. 20 at the home of Rosie Luthi. Members discussed service projects and participated in a fun program on text messaging for seniors.
