The Sterling American Legion Post #128 will host the Walter Vincent Iwo Jima and Veterans Dinner on May 6, at the Arden H. McKee American Legion Post #128, 108 East Garfield in Sterling. The event was founded by the late Walt Vincent in 1996, a Purple Heart recipient and an Iwo Jima veteran. Several years ago the committee began inviting other World War II veterans to the reunion and three years ago the invitation extended to all veterans.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. for conversation, refreshments, and viewing of war/military memorabilia. All veterans are invited and encouraged to bring personal memorabilia to be displayed. Colors will be presented at 6 p.m. followed by dinner. The meal will cost $12 per person at the door. Reservations are due by April 30.
