WICHITA – Those who missed their chance to purchase Thin Mints during the annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale have one more opportunity this year to get a package of the most popular Girl Scout Cookie. The third-annual Thin Mint Sprint 5K Run/Walk & Cookie Relay on April 16 in Wichita benefits Girl Scouts in 80 Kansas counties, and everyone who participates in the 5K gets a commemorative T-shirt plus a package of Thin Mints.
All ages and abilities are invited to join “Team Girl Scouts” by participating in this unique event supporting Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland. The Thin Mint Sprint 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:30 a.m. April 16 at the council’s headquarters, 360 Lexington Road in Wichita, with awards given out at 9:30 a.m. The Cookie Relay – a 600-yard course complete with “Minute It To Win It”-style cookie obstacles – starts at 10 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to the three relay teams that can stack cookies, toss cookies, and yes, even eat cookies, the fastest.
Adults and the public can register on kansasgirlscouts.org for $35 through April 15 or $40 on race day. Girl Scout girl members can register for the 5K for just $15. The Cookie Relay is only $20 for a team of four. Post-race refreshments will be available (cookies included), along with additional activities in the Family Fun Zone. All proceeds go toward continuing the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland serves more than 15,000 girls and adults through its operational headquarters in Wichita, and regional offices in Salina, Hays, Emporia and Garden City. Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts is the leading authority on girls’ healthy development and is the pre-eminent leadership development organization for girls. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
