I hope you have made time in your schedule to get out and exercise during the milder days we have had this week. I know I am thrilled to be back riding on the back of our tandem bike as much as the schedule will allow. It was a long four months since our bicycling accident but my arm has healed enough to enjoy short rides and work to get back in shape.
Along with the warmer temps the calendar shows us that the 2017 Walk KS program is just around the corner. The 2017 dates for Walk KS are March 19 through May 13. I was on campus last week and picked up the sample t-shirts we had ordered. The two choices this year are a pretty heather sapphire blue and a gravel gray color. We are working on updating the web site to allow on-line registration but we will be happy to help anyone register who may not have access to the internet.
In the meantime, it is good to start inviting friends, neighbors, co-workers or family members to form a Walk KS team this year. Teams consist of 6 individuals who keep track of the minutes they exercise each week. If each team member exercises 2 and a half hours a week their team will have no trouble completing the distance across KS. (423 miles) There are other challenges if your team is motivated to exercise more; that will be explained on the registration information.
The $8 registration fee for each participant includes a free celebration lunch as the Walk KS program is winding down. A “Wise Bucks” luncheon is set from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3rd, This will be a fun activity to participate in as a team if you can. It will be held at the Burnside room, 1214 Stone Street, in Great Bend.
Have a great week ahead! If you have any questions about Walk KS feel free to give me a call.
