Historical Society program describes early county entrepreneur
Barton County Historical Society

On Monday, March 28, the Barton County Historical Society will host a Zoom presentation by Deena Hill of Utah on her ancestor, Nelson Holder Ritchie. This program is part of the 150th-anniversary celebration of Great Bend as Ritchie was one of the early entrepreneurs of Barton County.

Hill’s ancestor owned and operated several businesses in Great Bend during the early days and she has done research on his life and legacy. Hill has also compiled a book of her research on this early Great Bend pioneer that is available for purchase in museum’s bookstore.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. for the program at 7 p.m. with light refreshments to follow. Admission for the program is $4 or free for historical society members.

The Barton County Historical Society Village and Museum is located at 85 South U.S. 281, just south of the Arkansas River bridge in Great Bend.
