Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library, and Happy National Library Week!

As we close out the week, remember that you still have two days to complete our Literary Character Scavenger Hunts in the library. There is one for children and another one for teens and adults. Anyone who completes a scavenger hunt will be entered in a drawing to win some prizes. Also, be sure to check out our social media for more National Library Week fun!

Coming up next week, we have Story Time at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and don’t forget to grab a Take and Make craft on your way home. These crafts correlate to each week’s Story Time but are also available all week long, so if you can’t make it to Story Time, be sure to pop by and pick one up. Speaking of Take and Make crafts, we still have an assortment of Teen Take and Makes left, such as a 3D Hologram Projector kit that allows you to turn select images on your phone into 3D projections! Stop by the Teen Spot to get yours before they are gone.

Another teen event coming up next week is our in-person, Teen Manga and Anime Club Meeting. We will be discussing volume one of Naoshi Arakwa’s “Your Lie in April” and watching an episode of the anime, as well as doing a fun, musically-related activity! Any teens ages 13-18 are welcome to join in on the fun. Masks for this event are not required but appreciated. Please be in the Teen Spot by the time we close at 6 p.m. so we can get started at 6:15 p.m. If you are not in the building by 6 p.m., you will be unable to attend the meeting.

Lastly, we have our Open Book Club on Tuesday at 7 p.m. This month we will be discussing “Wilder Girls” by Rory Power. “The students at the Raxter School for Girls are suffering from a mysterious illness called ‘the Tox,’ but other than knowing what the effects are and that some people from the outside world are working on trying to help them, they have no idea what is causing it, or what it even is.” Copies of the book are available for checkout at the front desk and on our digital platform, Libby.

Keep an eye on our Facebook and our website, greatbendpl.info, for upcoming programs and updates. You can also message us on Facebook or email us at gbcirc@gmail.com. We can also be reached via phone at 620-792-2409.
