Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC) is announcing the 2016 Bookmark Art contest theme. Entries for the “Pollinators Put Food on the Table” art contest must be postmarked by Feb. 2, 2016, to be considered. One grand prize winner will receive $100 cash and one winner from each grade will receive $50 cash.
The annual art contest is open to any Kansas student in kindergarten through sixth grade. Entries will be judged on relevance to theme, creativity, originality, use of space and color and clarity of idea and image. Official entry form, rules and past winning entries can be found at  here.
Teachers are encouraged to use the new Pollinators lesson plan and Kids Connection magazine, “A Pollinator Party: Partners in Agriculture,” to help students understand the important role pollinators play in food production and to spark ideas for bookmark art entries.
“Each year we are so impressed with the level of creativity exhibited by Kansas students,” said Natalie Anderson, KFAC Communications Coordinator. “This contest should be no exception and is a fun way to be involved with the KFAC pollinator school year theme!”
Winners will be announced late February. The contest will culminate in a celebration event in March 2016 during Kansas Ag month.
