The Salina Symphony will present “American Music in Motion” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, at the Stiefel Theatre.
The concert will feature a fusion of classical music and contemporary dance featuring popular American classics, such as Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” Barber’s “Adagio for Strings,” Bernstein’s “West Side Story” and several pieces by Aaron Copland. This collage of American music will feature central characters who will tell a story through music and dance.
This concert is a collaboration with the Iron Street Dance Company, and will feature approximately 20 dancers with original choreography by Peggy Simms and Alison Hiatt. The project is funded in part by the Horizons Grants Program of the Salina Arts and Humanities Foundation. Funding is provided by Horizons, a private donor group.
Tickets may be purchased at the Stiefel Theatre Box Office, by calling 785-827-1998 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Single admission is $27, $22 for adults and $12 for students, plus ticket fees.
The Salina Symphony is a community orchestra dedicated to enriching lives through artistic music performance and education. For more information, contact Adrienne Allen at (785) 823-8309 or visit salinasymphony.org.
