The Great Bend Presbyterian Women pass on the tradition of Pecan Sales to the Pilot Club of Great Bend. Pilot Club is honored to carry on the Pecan sales tradition started over 20 plus years ago by the Presbyterian Women’s group.

All Pilot Club members are now taking orders for this season’s fresh pecans from the Schermer Farm’s South Georgia pecan orchard. Orders should be placed with Pilot club by Oct. 4. Payment is requested at time of order.

Nothing has changed with this season’s Schermer’s crop in quality or quantity. Tina Hiss, the Pilot pecan sales chair explained, “Our one-pound single packaged premium pecan halves and pecan pieces are our mainstays; however, we also offer attractively packaged Dark Chocolate pecans, mouth-watering Pecan Caramel Clusters, scrumptious Glazed Pecans, and tasty Cinnamon Glazed,” Pilot Judy Fox, a pecan sales team member, notes that “the pecans will arrive in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday baking. The festive decorative packaging of the specialty pecans makes them an attractive idea for holiday gift giving, we expect the pecans to be available for delivery around Nov. 15th”.

Pilot club fundraisers support the overall service focus of Pilot International: Brain safety, brain research, and assistance to those with brain-related disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, chemical dependency, traumatic brain injuries, brain cancer, Autism, and numerous other developmental, emotional, and mental disabilities, as well as, caring for the caregiver.

Pilot President Joyce Beadles-Fry, explained, “As a local volunteer service organization there is a local emphasis on Brain injury prevention and brain safety like giving away free bike helmets at community events, supporting Barton County Emergency Aid, and to sponsoring and having a team to raise funds for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Pilot members plan and hold workshops on Autism, support the high school and college student pantries, Barton County Food Banks, and the programs of Sunflower Diversified, along with other similar projects through the year”.

Pecans can be ordered from any Pilot Club member, but if you have ordered previously from the Presbyterian Women you may be contacted by a Pilot member to help place your order this year. For easy contact call or text Pilot Connie Cale at 620-282-0323, or Judy Fox at 620-617-4296.
