Poetry Rendezvous coming to St. John

ST. JOHN — Poets and poetry lovers are invited to attend the 30th Anniversary Poetry Rendezvous Aug. 25 and 26, at the Courthouse Annex, 310 E. 3rd, in St. John.

On Saturday, Aug. 25, there will be three workshops: “The Best Revenge Poems: Poems That Throw a Punch,” with Ellaraine Lockie; “Erasure Poetry,” with Kyle Laws; and “Poetry & Politics” with George Martin.

Along with open mic readings both days, there will be 10 featured poets: Robert Joy and George Martin, both of Ellinwood; April Pameticky of Wichita; Steve Sassmann of Marysville; Aaron Brown of Emporia; Victor Clevenger of Carrollton, Mo.; John Dorsey of Belle, Mo.; Jared Smith of Lafayette, Colo.; Kyle Laws of Pueblo, Colo.; and Ellaraine Lockie of Sunnyvale, Calif.

Poets will have their books available to sell and autograph. 

This year’s gathering is sponsored by Chiron Inc. There is no admission fee for any of the events. Donations are welcome and tax deductible.
