The Quilting Bees met on Feb. 18. Discussion was held on fundraisers and the Quilting Celebration to be held in June. Possible workdays were discussed with ideas including a hexagon table topper and a chicken pin cushion. Announcements included the extension to veterans of Pawnee, Stafford, and Ellsworth Counties for the Quilts of Valor Program. The drawing was won by Ann Hicks. Mary Weber presented the program.
Show and Tell participants included: Alice Clapsaddle, Sunbonnet Sue and Horn of Plenty wall hangings and 25 vintage Sunbonnet Sue 11-inch blocks on muslin; Melvina Prescott, “She Came From Kansas” quilt in mauve/soft green/tan and a log cabin quilt block; Cathy Manry, 18” quilt block to be included in a quilt for her bed; Ann Hicks, several completed quilts and wall hangings and a king size quilt in “Turning Twenty” design; Colleen Wolf, Waneta Mausolf’s Sunflower Sue scrappy quilt blocks finished by Wolf trimmed in red; Becky Obermiller, strip cutter ruler used in making two blocks in red and Sunflower and Maple Leaf quilt in fall colors; and Jeana Padgham, small quilts using western motif towels in center and quilt top “Bonkie” using brights and yellows.
