Quilting Bees guild meets

The Quilting Bees guild met on May 21, in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church. Phyllis Foster called to thank the prayer quilt ministry for the prayer quilt recently given. Final plans for the Quilter’s Celebration on June 1 was discussed. Several veterans receiving Quilts of Valor will be recognized along with the Quilts of Valor groups from Hays and Great Bend. In addition to presentations given, several hands-on projects will involve the participants. A pot-luck luncheon will be offered along with many door prizes. For additional information, call the church at 620-285-6033. The free event will be offered from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Rita Schaller presented the program demonstrating an insulated water bottle holder by Scrappy Patch with several samples on display. Show and Tell participants were Ann Hicks, see through bobbin case and a finished square for the Kinsley fair; Merlene Baird, her grandmother’s flower garden quilt top; Mary Weber, Sew, Slice, Spin, Sash book; Diane Schultz, Quilt of Valor in red/white/blue/yellow with navy backing and a cross wall hanging top in blue and white; Rita Schaller, flower pot wall hanging with big hand stitched quilting using pearl thread.  

The next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, June 4.
