The Quilting Bees began their meeting on Sept. 4 by answering, “What are you trying to finish?” President Ann Hicks read thank you notes from Elaine Voos, Tom Seltman and Tanya Schadel. H.A. Smith submitted an article about the Underground Railroad quilts. Members were reminded that the guild has extra fabric that can be used in completion of quilts and to check the bins in the quilting room.

Drawings were won by Diann Morell, Janell Barton and Colleen Wolf. Hicks demonstrated the September block of the month, the “Road to the White House” from “She Came From Kansas” quilt book, with completed samples from Colleen Wolf and Alice Clapsaddle.

Show and Tell participants were: Little Mattie Barton, a preschooler, Styrofoam Art; Alice Clapsaddle, quilted French Horn quilt block, a row by row project from Bossy Sisters of Kinsley; Ann Hicks, rolled fat quarter shaped like a lollipop, Aunt Pam’s Quilt sponge and several quilt blocks; Janell Barton, lighted needle threader, Merlene Baird, sewing machine caddie in pastels.
