HESSTON — Dan Rodriguez will take the stage at the Dyck Arboretum of the Plains’ Prairie Window Concert Series, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21. The concert will take place in Hesston at the Prairie Pavilion at the Arboretum overlooking the lake.
Attendees are encouraged to consult the PWCS COVID-19 protocol before purchasing tickets. Tickets are by reservation at http://dyckarboretum.org/arboretum-event/dan-rodriguez/ or by calling 620-327-8127. Cost of tickets is $25 for adults and $15 for children, plus tax. Proceeds benefit the Arboretum’s mission to cultivate transformative relationships between people and the land.
Raised in Detroit, Dan is a self-described “whiskey and beer drinking, fishing and hunting loving, motorcycle riding, quality food eating, hippie sympathizing, people loving, husband and father who lives in Minneapolis” with his wife and two sons.
“Music is my trade and performing it for people is my passion,” he says. “When I’m not in my studio writing songs and cutting records, or on the road playing shows, I’m usually tending to our backyard chickens, eating fresh veggies from my wife’s huge garden, making syrup from our city maples, or doing one of my many outdoor hobbies.”
According to Scott Carlito of Indie Band Guru, “Rodriguez’s voice is a smooth mix of R&B influences leaning more towards the bluesy spectrum of things and pure commercial goodness. He’s an equally talented phraser who squeezes every drop of possible drama from the writing.”
His newest album 25 Years, released in February 2018, is the most prolific and widely distributed album to date, featuring songs that have been placed in major ads, including one memorable Super Bowl ad. A single EP of the same name was released in May of 2021.
Recent work also includes The Quarantine Sessions, a series of songs written in 2020. Several of those one-take, one-performance recordings are available for free on the artist’s website at danrodriguezmusic.com. These recordings are his gesture of gratitude toward his fans.
In addition to high quality acoustic music, this concert will feature delicious savory and sweet food options for sale during intermission, with a menu provided by Crust & Crumb Company.
