The Wet/Dry Routes and Dodge City chapters of the Santa Fe Trail Association invite the public to the summer meeting on June 2 for the dedication of the Leander Herron signage south of Spearville. Corporal Leander Herron was awarded a Medal of Honor for his heroic effort in saving men’s lives during a wood detail not far from Fort Dodge. The joint meeting will start with a 1 p.m. meal at the Dodge House Restaurant, 2408 W. Wyatt Earp Blvd., Dodge City. No reservations required.

Following short business meetings and an introduction of the marker by Dr. Leo Oliva, the group will reconvene at the signage site for the dedication. Doug Springer and committee were in charge of the installation. For further information contact Chief Ranger George Elmore, Fort Larned National Historic Site.
