Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Happy National Library Week. To celebrate National Library Week the Friends of the Library are having a mini book sale through Saturday the 13th. This week only, get hardcovers and puzzles for $1 and paperbacks, DVDs, and more for 50 cents each.

Monday is our next Messy Art Monday. Every month we give kiddos a chance to experiment with different media to create their own one-of-a-kind art. This month we will be experimenting with frozen chalk to make art. Join us in the Children’s Area at 4 p.m. for Messy Art Monday.

On Tuesday, in addition to Story Time at 10:30 a.m. and Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m., at 7 p.m. we have Open Book Club. April’s book is “Finlay Donovan is Killing It,” by Elle Cosimano. “Finlay Donovan is killing it ... except, she’s really not. She’s a stressed-out single mom of two and struggling novelist, Finlay’s life is in the new book she promised her literary agent isn’t written, her ex-husband fired the nanny without telling her, and this morning she had to send her 4-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head after an incident with scissors. When Finlay is overheard discussing the plot of her new suspense novel with her agent over lunch, she’s mistaken for a contract killer, and inadvertently accepts an offer to dispose of a problem husband in order to make ends meet. ... Soon, Finlay discovers that crime in real life is a lot more difficult than its fictional counterpart, as she becomes tangled in a real-life murder investigation.”

Grab a copy now at the front desk.

Then, Next Thursday, in addition to our Thursday regulars we have our next Teen Manga and Anime Club. This month we will be discussing and watching “Anonymous Noise.” After that, in line with the musical theme, we will be making guitar pick necklaces.
