Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Our Summer library program is coming to a close this week. We hope everyone was able to enjoy all the amazing activities we had this summer. I know I speak on behalf of the entire staff when I say we were so happy to be able to offer these programs to our community and we would like to extend another huge thank you to our amazing library sponsors whose support helped enable us to make this such a spectacular summer.
Although we are winding down for the summer we still have one big bash to look forward to! The end-of-summer pool party is on Friday, August 5. As a reminder, this is a private pool party, and the only way to get in is with a ticket earned by completing our Summer Reading Program. Friday, July 29, is your last day to turn in reading minutes to ensure you get a pool party ticket. It is also the last day for teens to pick up any Library Loot they’ve earned and for adults to submit prize drawing entries. The Teen Library Loot Prize Auction and Adult Summer Reading prize drawing will both be tomorrow Saturday, July 30. Children have until August 14 to turn in their minutes for prizes, but the initial goal reading minutes need to be turned in by today, July 29 to get that pool party ticket.
For teens, our last Take & Make of the summer will be available starting today on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to snag one before they’re gone. This time the kit will include everything you need to make your own Summer Friendship Bracelet. Lastly, our final summer activity will be our Library Loot Prize Auction tomorrow, Saturday the 30th. The auction room will be open for prize viewing starting at noon and the bidding will begin at 12:30 p.m. This is your chance to spend your hard-earned Library Loot on awesome prizes! Be sure to bring your Library Loot with you to the library, because you won’t be able to take any prizes home without it.
Once again thank you to everyone who helped make our library program such a success. While we take a break from many of our activities for the month of August, we will be coming back in September with tons of fun for all ages. Look for our new fall and winter catalog featuring everything you’ll want to know about the rest of the year at the Great Bend Public Library coming out in mid-August.
