Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! We have an exciting event coming up this weekend: Rob Munden will be here with his popular book series, The Pickleball Chronicles. The first installment, “Peanut Butter Pickleball and Murder,” is a comedic mystery novel set in Wichita, Kansas. The story follows 70-year-old retired Wichita detective Randall Baines. He is struggling to find purpose in his retired life until a serial killer known as the Peanut Butter Killer murders one of his neighbors. When Baines finds a clue leading to the local pickleball scene, he must team up with his irritating, young, pickleball-playing neighbor to help catch the killer before they strike again!
The sequel, “The Ghost of Pickleball Past,” is here just in time for spooky season! It’s been three years since the notorious Peanut Butter Killer case was closed, but the killer is far from alone in their own personal hell. They are tormented by horrible beasts through nightmarish visions and haunted by their victims’ constant reminders of their cruelty. Beginning to lose hope and any will to continue, they are soon visited by a new ghost, Elaine Stewart. But are Elaine’s ghostly visits intended to help or to further torment them? Meanwhile, back in Wichita, Randall Baines is pulled into a new investigation when one of the greatest pickleball players in the world, Barrett Pineheart, falls dead during an invitational match. His sudden passing is attributed to heart problems, but Randall Baines is not convinced.
Rob will be here with copies of his book to sign on Saturday, Sept. 26, starting at 11 a.m. He will also be available to chat about his novels. Who knows, he may also give you a sneak peek at what’s to come in the next book in his pickleball and murder mystery trilogy.
For those of you unfamiliar with Rob, he is a Kansas native and an established author and playwright. In addition to his book series, he also has over twenty plays that have been produced on stage. Rob lives and works in Larned, Kansas, as Director of Psycho-Education at Larned State Hospital. He also has his own sports-related podcast titled Rob’s Ramblings. Rob and his wife Julie have three children: Dallas, Maverick and Mia. Following in her father’s footsteps, Dallas helps Rob with his writing as his editor.
