Troyer, Siefkes take first at Parnassus Auditions

Twenty-three music students participated in the annual Parnassus Auditions in piano and voice held March 6 at the Barton Community College Fine Arts Building. 

In this audition, the voice students perform two art songs memorized and piano students perform one memorized solo for an adjudicator, who then writes an evaluation of the student’s performance. 

Elementary Division students perform for a written critique and medal. Junior Division students receive performance ratings and written critique. High School students compete for ratings, critique and awards for first place, second place, third place and honorable mentions. 

Brett Janssen,  Central Christian College, McPherson, adjudicated the piano division. Jessica Perez. Barton Community College, adjudicated the voice division.

The Senior vocal winners include: first place, Haley Troyer, second place, Kiley Troyer, third place, Alisha Wheeler, Honorable Mention, Caden Rowan. 

The Senior piano winners include first place, August Siefkes, second place, Amy To, third place, Reagan Huslig, Honorable Mention, Ellyson Somers and Tricia Schremmer.

Junior Piano I Rating: Alaina Allen and Clarise Snapp. 

Junior Voice I Ratings: Jadynce Schroeder and Clarise Snapp.

Elementary Piano Students Medal Awards: Kale Mermis, Madelynne Siefkes.

Elementary Voice Students Medal Awards: Avery Panning, Mackayla Suppes.

The Central Kansas Piano Teacher’s League sponsored the event. Area music teachers with students participating include Karole Erikson, Lorrie Stickney, Becky Dudrey and Glenna Gaunt.
