Virginia Klepper will celebrate her 90th birthday with a celebration reception, hosted by her children, from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, in The Courtyard at Best Western Angus Inn, 2920 10th St., Great Bend. Friends and family are invited. Cards are welcome but no gifts are requested.
Virginia was born at home Oct. 15, 1928, just outside Claflin, the daughter of Ernest and Caroline Dressier. She grew up in Claflin. In 1949 she married Clifford Klepper, built a home in Claflin, and raised six children, Janice Rielly of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Cheryl Philippi of Manhattan, Daryl Klepper of Great Bend, Michelle Shaheen of Derby, Lynnette Bernasconi of Hays, and Terry Klepper of Salina. She has 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Some of her favorite pastimes are Ballroom, Square and Polka Dancing, sharing special events with her family, organizing photo albums and helping others. She also always spearheads organizing her class reunions to this day.
Virginia retired from a long career as Sales Manager of The Town and Country Racquet Club in Great Bend. She has always been a big advocate of Health and Fitness and was always so proud of The Club and all it offers. She also devoted years to the Girl Scouts of America, The Red Cross, especially their Swim and Life Saving Programs, and organized countless Square Dance lessons in the Great Bend community to promote her love of dance.
Virginia takes great pride in her community and all the wonderful activities Great Bend and Barton County have to offer. You can’t talk to her without her mentioning a concert or an event that is coming up. Lastly, Virginia has been a long standing member of Prince of Peace Catholic Parish, is a friend to everyone she meets.
