Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Today, in addition to our Thursday regulars, Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m. and Reading to Luna at 4 p.m., we have our next Teen Manga and Anime Club at 5:30 p.m. This month we will be discussing and watching Anonymous Noise. After that, in line with the musical theme, we will be making guitar pick necklaces. We would like to say a big thank you to A440 Music for their donation of the guitar picks we will be using. Friday the teen events continue with Teen Café. This time we are going back to Kindergarten. Revisit your childhood and de-stress with some kid classics, including story time, macaroni art, and more!
Coming Saturday is Life-Sized Candy Land! Bring the whole family to the library to make your way through the Lollipop Woods and Peppermint Forest on your way to Candy Castle. Meet some sweet characters and enjoy tasty treats too. The candy-coated fun will start at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at 4 p.m. we have this month’s Tween Scene, a chance for tweens in 3rd to 5th grade to get a taste of some of our teen events. This time they will compete to see who can make the tallest spaghetti towers and the longest paper chains in this version of our Builders, Assemble! program.
Tuesday join us for Story Time at 10:30 am, Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m., then VolunTeens at 4 p.m. This month the VolunTeens will be working with the local Beautification Committee to help spruce up the library grounds. Teens will want to wear outdoor work clothes and bring work gloves if they have them. This will be a great way to help the community and earn some Library Loot while they’re at it.
Next Thursday in addition to our regular events we will be having our monthly Great Bend Silver Screen Society movie. While I can’t tell you the title (please visit our website for more info), I can tell you this month’s movie will catapult us across the Multiverse with Miles Morales, Earth 42’s one and only Spider-Man. Miles will encounter a whole team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverse’s very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero. Check out our website to get more info on the film or to join our Discord, where you can talk to other film fans, make suggestions for future films, and get updates on what’s going on with the club.
