Leah Parsons and Cody Wondra were named the winners of the 2015 Kansas Fairs & Festivals Association Ag Challenge of Champions. Parsons and Wondra will receive a $2,250 scholarship to be used for their college tuition. The scholarship is awarded to the top two winners of the contest that is held in conjunction with the Kansas State Fair. Contestants have to identify cuts of meat, grains, grasses and weeds, feed and livestock breeds, veterinarian equipment, four written exams on farm management as well as give a 3 minute extemporaneous speech.
Cody is the son of Kelly and Kristen Wondra of Ellinwood. He is a senior at Ellinwood High School and is a member of the Ellinwood Energizers 4-H Club.
Leah is the daughter of Rodney and Amy Parsons of Leavenworth. She is a freshman at Garden City Community College.
The Kansas Fairs & Festivals Association is an organization that shall serve its membership through education, information and direction which will enhance their productivity, economic viability and administrative capabilities to enhance the growth, development and quality of life for all Kansans through the promotion and conduct of successful fairs and expositions.
