The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism is currently accepting updates and listings for the Official Kansas Travel Guide. The annual full-color publication provides a look at the unique travel experiences Kansas offers including comprehensive information on Kansas Byways, attractions, accommodations, campgrounds, recreational areas, guest ranches, hunting lodges, bed & breakfasts, antiques, retail shops, destination dining, motor sports, golf courses, and retreat centers.
Local businesses and organizations interested in being listed in the 300,000 copy publication should contact the Great Bend Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB). The GBCVB is the DMO (direct marketing organization) that maintains and updates the Great Bend listings in the guide and on the Travel Kansas website.
Tourism impacts the Kansas economy by about 5.46 billion dollars each year. The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism provides these statistics about their annual guide:
-In 2014, 68,306 Official Kansas Visitor Guide inquiries were made.
-58% of visitors surveyed spent extra time in Kansas because of what they read in the Guide
-Information in the Guide influenced 75% of visitors to see or do more in Kansas
-Nearly 75% of each tourism dollar spent in Kansas is retained in Kansas.
