On Feb. 15, 4-H’ers from across the state traveled to Great Bend to compete in the 2020 Barton County Winter Classic 4-H Air Rifle and Air Pistol Match. For many of them, this was the first competition of the season.
There were 25 competitors in the Air Rifle Match ranging in age from 9 to 18 years old.
In the 9 to 11 year old division, Barton County 4-H’ers placed as follows: Madison Gaddis was first, Shae Hoskins was second, Kale Mermis was third. Also competing in this age group were Miriam Withrow and Janika Clark.
In the 12 to 13 year old division, Barton County was represented in the top three places with Parker Dicks placing first, Cayman Rowan placing second and Jonas Kern Placing third.
In the 14 and 15 year old age division, Tate Martin represented Barton County.
In the 16 to 18 year old age group, Gus Corbett represented Barton County.
The Barton County team of Parker Dicks, Tate Martin, Cayman Rowan and Madison Gaddis placed second.
There were 14 competitors in the Air Pistol Match ranging in age from 11 to 18 years old.
In the 11 to 14 year old division, Cayman Rowan placed second, with Kale Mermis and Jonas Kern also competing in the age group.
In the 15 to 18 year old division, Barton County was represented by Will Clark and Gus Corbett.
The Barton County Pistol team placed fourth with team members Cayman Rowan and Kale Mermis.
