Abracadabra, magic wands, magical rings and even a bunny entertained children of all ages on Wednesday at the magic show that was held at the Great Bend Public Library.
Dan Dan the Magic Man performed his magic tricks for the children as part of the Great Bend Public Library’s Summer Reading Program.
“Keeping kids reading and active throughout the summer is very important,” the magician said. “This is why I do my magic tricks for reading programs throughout the state.”
When he’s not wearing his magician’s hat, Dan Dan is Great Bend High School drama instructor Dan Heath. He has been performing at libraries for 14 years all over the state.
This year Dan Dan the Magic Man had a large following of children and their parents that attended the show and were entertained with many different magic tricks.
“Every year we have a huge crowd,” Children’s Librarian Dayna Ball said. “The kids really think he is magical and fun and they really connect with him.”
The magic show was part of the Summer Reading Program that the library hosts throughout the summer. There are reading programs for all ages including adults.
“On Your Mark, Get Set — Read!” is the theme for the children’s summer library program. The theme for teens is “Get in the Game, Read!” and the theme for adults is “Exercise Your Mind, Read.”
