RUSSELL — The next show opens at the Deines Cultural Center, Friday Jan. 15, from 5-8 p.m. “Drawn to Illusion” features the imaginative art of Robert Joy of Ellinwood and Mike Whelan of Great Bend.
Joy’s work is a myriad of ornate mixed media drawings and Whelan creates large-scale abstract drawings he calls Doodleisms. Together, their work is an adventure in color and line, said Shannon Trevethan, director of the cultural center.
“Drawn to Illusion” will be on exhibition in the south and upstairs galleries from Jan. 15 through Feb. 20. The galleries are open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
Admission is free and all are welcome. The Deines Cultural Center is located at 820 N. Main in Russell. Call 785-483-3742 for inquiries or email deinescenter@russellcity.org.
