Barton County Historical Society to meet

Barton County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 22. Joe Boley will present “Cheyenne Bottoms - goes to the dogs.”
Greyhounds were imported to Barton County in the 19th century. Boley will discuss the greyhound history of “coursing” which occurred at the “Cheyenne Flats” in 1886. His guest speaker will talk about present-day racing, the American Greyhound Association and the importance of Abilene in this industry.
The program is free and the public is invited to attend.  The Barton County Historical Museum and Village is located just south of the Arkansas River Bridge on U.S. 281.
