Students of the Barton Community College Dance Theatre class will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11 in the Fine Arts Auditorium and freewill donations will be accepted to benefit Barton baseball player Skylar Hill in his fight against cancer.
The performance will feature a mixture of jazz, modern and hip-hop dance styles performed by small groups, duos, trios and solo performers.
In addition, the showcase will feature vocal and instrumental performances by student Matt Nolte.
Barton dance instructor Amanda Schnoebelen said her class is loosely structured to allow those who take the course to be a part of the artistic, expressive process.
“The course is not restrictive at all, and I try to teach a variety of styles,” she said.  “I do teach a lot of technical, official dance moves but the students choreograph a lot of it as well, and that gives them the opportunity to be creative with their own style and dance genre of choice.”
