The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host a free Stop ‘N Learn Session, “Growing Spices And Herbs,” from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. This program will also be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave.
Spices and herbs enhance the natural flavors of foods. These flavorings have been used for centuries and can be part of any meal. The use of herbs and spices can help cut fat, sugar and salt in your preparations and save money by adding flavor to simple and inexpensive foods. Jenni Carr, agriculture and natural resources agent, K-State Research and Extension, will provide tips on growing spices and herbs.
