High winds cause damage

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls related to high winds Friday morning.

A wheat truck’s brakes were not engaged and the wind blew the truck into a house at 214 Jackson St. at 6:34 a.m.

Wind damage to a power line pole on North U.S. 281 and NW 160 Road was reported at 8:03 a.m. Midwest Energy was contacted. Hoisington Fine Department also responded, due to smoke coming from the pole.

At 8:26 a.m. someone reported a tree blocking a roadway in Liberty township.

Later in the morning, someone reported a stop sign was missing from the intersection at NW 90 Road and NW 80 Ave. This also was attributed to wind damage.
