Man injured after trying to pull deer from roadway

A 23-year-old man from Syracuse, Utah, was injured Monday while trying to pull a deer from K-156, 1.5 miles east of Claflin. The accident occurred at 9:53 p.m. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a Ford F-250 pickup driven by Braiden Samuelson, struck a deer on the road. Meanwhile, another car, driven by 18-year-old Anthony Broeder, Great Bend, tried to avoid Samuelson and ended up hitting his truck.
Samuelson tried to avoid the collision by jumping in the ditch, but he was still struck by Broeder’s car. He was taken to Great Bend Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
