Pickup hits tractor near Olmitz

Two people were transported to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington on Thursday, after a pickup hit the back of a John Deere on NW 90 Road and NW 90 Ave., two miles south of Olmitz.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Michael Paul Erb, 35, of Great Bend was eastbound in a 2001 Chevy pickup at 5:55 p.m. when the vehicle rear-ended the tractor, driven by Justus Flint Bartonek, 17, of Olmitz. Both were injured. Two passengers in the pickup, William Brian Sanders, 37, and Brian D. Kern, 37, both of Great Bend, were not injured. All of the trucks occupants were wearing seat belts; the tractor driver was not.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office and Hoisington Ambulance also responded.
