Audio Books shorten the Thanksgiving travel miles
The Cardinal Catalog
Cardinal Catalog.jpg

We have received a large donation of audio books from an urban library. If you need an audio book for your Thanksgiving journey, Hoisington Public Library is the place. We have added hundreds of new titles to our collection. I’ve found it sure makes travel time pass faster for the driver! I’ve also found listening to a book makes hours spent cleaning go faster. We have added many Nora Roberts, J.D. Robb, David Baldacci, Dean Koontz,

We have new books at Hoisington Library. Here are a few:

“To the Land of Long Lost Friends”

Alexander McCall Smith

This is the ultimate series for those who like Christian books. In the latest book in the widely beloved No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, Precious Ramotswe takes on a case for a childhood acquaintance but her inquiries will require an even more delicate touch than usual. Mma Ramotswe reconnects with an old friend who has been having problems with her daughter. Though Precious feels compelled to lend a hand, she discovers that getting involved in family affairs is always a delicate proposition.

“The Family Upstairs”

Lisa Jewell

Soon after her twenty-fifth birthday, Libby Jones returns home from work to find the letter she’s been waiting for her entire life. She rips it open with one driving thought: I am finally going to know who I am. She soon learns not only the identity of her birth parents, but also that she is the sole inheritor of their abandoned mansion on the banks of the Thames in London’s fashionable Chelsea neighborhood, worth millions. Everything in Libby’s life is about to change. But what she can’t possibly know is that others have been waiting for this day as well--and she is on a collision course to meet them.

“Christmas Sweets”

Joanne Fluke

The Twelve Desserts of Christmas: “It’s the perfect mix of naughty and nice when two lovestruck boarding school teachers watch six kids over Christmas break. But when someone wants the cozy couple’s romance to burn out faster than a scorched fruitcake, it’s Hannah Swensen to the rescue, armed with her sleuthing skills--and twelve deliciously festive recipes.”

“Smoke Screen”

Terri Blackstock

Nate Beckett has spent his life fighting wildfires instead of the lies and rumors that drove him from his Colorado hometown. Fourteen years ago, Nate was in love with Brenna, the preacher’s daughter. That relationship was shattered after Pastor Strickland was found murdered and Roy Beckett, Nate’s father, was convicted of the crime. Now, Roy has been pardoned, and Nate is back in town. Brenna, who is dealing with the stunning news and a brutal custody battle, has turned to alcohol to cope. As Nate and Brenna deal with the present, their past keeps igniting.

“The Murder List”

Hank Phillippi Ryan

Law student Rachel North will tell you, without hesitation, what she knows to be true. She’s smart, she’s a hard worker, she does the right thing, she’s successfully married to a faithful and devoted husband, a lion of Boston’s defense bar, and her internship with the Boston DA’s office is her ticket to a successful future. Problem is--she’s wrong. And in this cat and mouse game--the battle for justice becomes a battle for survival.

“Lethal Agent”

Vince Flynn

An unprecedented and terrifying bioterrorism plot threatens to kill millions in the midst of a divisive presidential election in this new thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling Mitch Rapp series. A toxic presidential election is underway in an America already badly weakened by internal divisions. While politicians focus entirely on maintaining their own power and privilege, ISIS kidnaps a brilliant French microbiologist and forces him to begin manufacturing anthrax.
