Barton Community College to host free playwriting workshop Oct. 22
gbtribune news

While many enjoy a good play production, few have actually written one. Barton Community College is presenting an excellent opportunity for community members to join those few and a chance to see their plays come to life on stage.
Local playwright Rob Munden will lead a free playwriting workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 22, in the Barton Fine Arts Auditorium. During the workshop participants will learn about the proper playwriting format, creating a story that engages the audience and other related topics in a hands-on environment.
Three of the submitted plays will be chosen to be performed in an original playwright series on April 27, 2017. Playwrights will have until Jan. 15, 2017 to submit their play. Plays must be 20 minutes in length, contained on one set with no more than four to five characters, written by someone in the Barton service area and never produced or have been a part of a reading. All of these requirements will be covered in full detail at the workshop on Oct. 22. Those who wish to submit do not have to participate in the workshop but it is strongly suggested.
Community members, including those at Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth, are encouraged to come to the free workshop and to submit their work.
