Barton Phi Theta Kappa chapter to host food drive at Barton basketball games
BCC logo

Those wanting to help a great cause and catch some exciting basketball action will have the opportunity to do both as part of Barton’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter’s Food Drive from 2-5:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Kirkman Gym during the Cougar basketball games, and those bringing five items or more will gain free entry.

All donated items will be divided between the Family Crisis Center in Great Bend and the Cougar Closet, which provides needed items to Barton students. The Cougars will take on Garden City Community College with the women’s game starting at 2 p.m. and the men’s game starting at 4 p.m.

Some of the most needed items are canned fruits and vegetables, canned soup, ramen noodles or similar products, and dry cereals.

PTK is the international honor society for two-year colleges and symbolizes excellence in higher education. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to join PTK. The PTK group at Barton spends significant time sponsoring local events and volunteering to support others’ events.
