Auditions for Barton Community College’s fall play, “Almost Maine,” by John Cariani, are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, in BCC’s Fine Arts Auditorium.
The script has multiple roles available. Technical positions for stage manager, lighting, and costumes and props will also be assigned. Community members as well as Barton students are welcome to audition.
BCC Theatre Director Erin Renard will direct the play. Performances are set for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
“Almost, Maine” is structured around nine short plays that visit the emotionally charged elements of both love and loss during the cold crisp winter season. Set in the fictional town of Almost, Maine, the play has been described by the New York Times as “a whimsical approach to the joys and perils of romance.”
The BCC Theatre Department is gearing up for the 2011-2012 academic year with several items already slated for the community to enjoy, Renard said.
The annual student-directed theatre production will premiere in mid-November, followed by the spring musical in early March.
In addition, a musical, “The Last Five Years,” and a community activity titled, “A Night at the Theatre” will arrive in May 2012. Another installment of “Barton’s Got Talent” is also scheduled, but the date for this is not yet available.
