As the Great Bend Bat Cats begin their seventh season as an integral part of the Jayhawk League, they announced that they are the recipient of $10,000 in donations from the 100+ People That Care of Barton County.
Playing at Al Burns Memorial Field, the Bat Cats offer free family fun all summer long and are gearing up for facility improvements to improve the fan experience. President and General Manager Roger Ward shared that steps will be added to the larger grandstand at the field, as well as railing, so that it will be easier and safer for fans to navigate getting to their seating destination. They also hope to provide between-inning games for fans to enjoy, and add finishing touches to the new concession stand, digital signage and informational areas, and audio equipment for the press box. An on-field microphone for the National Anthem is also an area of need, he said. Performers are always needed and can apply on their website.

The next giving meeting for the 100+ People Who Care group will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 8, at the Best Western Angus Inn Courtyard. At that time, representatives from the Bat Cats will return to provide an update on how they have been utilizing their donation.
