NESS COUNTY — Members of the Barton County Commission have been invited to a special multi-county quarterly meeting slated for Wednesday evening at the Ness County Courthouse.

The West Central Kansas counties of Ness, Lane, Hodgeman, Rush and Trego have been hosting quarterly multi-county meetings for the past several years and have occasionally invited neighboring counties, including Barton, to the group meeting to discuss issues relevant to Central Kansas, as well as those topics that pertain to counties with populations of 3,000 or less.

The meeting slated for 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Ness County Courthouse has again been extended to commission members of Pawnee and Barton counties.

Barton County Commission Chairman Duane Reif noted that he had attended several of the multi-county meetings in the past and had been updated on several current topics such as hospital facilities and rural energy opportunities; county-wide Emergency Medical Services and other health and safety issues, as well as federal issues such as the federal farm bill.
