The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will hear an update on cybersecurity during a study session set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), also known as the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999, requires financial institutions – companies that offer consumers financial products or services like loans, financial or investment advice, or insurance – to explain their information-sharing practices to their customers and to safeguard sensitive data. Last October, Tandem Cybersecurity performed a risk assessment for the college, focusing on GBLA security requirements. That assessment will be the focus of Tuesday’s presentation by Renee Demel, chief information officer.
Other discussions for Tuesday’s study session are the July financial statement, storm damage response and fall semester report. Trustees will also plan for the October study session, a board retreat to be held at Fort Riley.
