Barton Community College’s Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building on campus to approve a $763,500 purchase to install artificial turf on the baseball and softball fields.

Matching funds have been raised for the installation of turf on the infield of the baseball field and on the entire softball field. The contract with general contractor Venture Corporation includes Astroturf, fencing, concrete, dirtwork and drainage work.

This is scheduled as a special meeting so that action can be taken. It will be held in conjunction with the board’s September study session, where the board will discuss the possibility of starting a BCC men’s and women’s bowling program in the 2019-2020 school year. Other items on the agenda include the August financial report and information about enrollment management, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) programming and Maxient software.
