BCC Music Dept. to host free instrumental concert

Barton Community College’s Prairie Winds Concert Band will present a fall concert featuring music from around the world at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
The band will be performing music from artists from across the globe, including George Gershwin. Gershwin was made famous for “Rhapsody in Blue” which was featured in Disney’s “Fantasia 2000.” The band will also perform marches, overtures and orchestral transcriptions.
The band is made up of high school students, college students and adults from the area who rehearse once a week and play a variety of music. Barton Director of Instrumental Activities Steven Lueth will direct the concert, which is free and open to the public.

With groundwork going on at the future site of the Innovation Center on Farmer’s Plaza off of 10th St., Great Bend Economic Development Executive Director Sara Arnberger updated Great Bend Chamber members on several of the organization’s projects Thursday during a Chamber Coffee.
