Barton Community College will host a “meet and greet” for its new vice president, Dr. Robin Garrett, from 4-5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the Shafer Art Gallery, which is located in the Fine Arts Building. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.
Dr. Garrett comes to Barton from Lone Star College, which she had served since 2002. She was responsible for the continuing education operations of the six-campus Lone Star College System including career and technical education programs and personal enrichment classes, serving more than 15,000 students. Dr. Garrett holds a Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences with a concentration in Technology in Education.
“Barton’s faculty and staff have been very welcoming and I am so impressed with the student-centered philosophy of this institution. We want what is best for the student and to ensure we are assisting each one to reach their goals,” Garrett said. “I am also very excited to work with our faculty and area businesses to enhance and expand our partnerships for workforce training and economic development.”
