A Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputy was involved in a minor injury accident Wednesday morning, after pulling in front of another vehicle at 24th and Harrison St. in Great Bend.
Deputy Sierra C. Thorne, 24, of Otis, was driving a BCSO patrol car. She and the other driver refused treatment at the scene, but Thorne was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital by private vehicle. She was treated and released.
Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the accident at 7:39 a.m. According to the KHP report, Thorne was traveling west on 24th St. in a 2013 Dodge Charger and made a left turn onto Harrison in front of a 2001 GMC driven by 16-year-old Zachary L. Meek of Great Bend. Meek was not injured as the GMC broadsided the patrol vehicle.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Both vehicles were towed away.
