Stolen property, firearms and suspected drugs were seized last Thursday when the Barton County Sheriff’s Office executed two search warrants at 7 a.m. at 161 SW 10 Ave., Sheriff Brian Bellendir said.
Rick Novotny, 59, of rural Great Bend was transported to the Barton County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of cultivated marijuana. He has since been released on a $10,000 bond.
The BCSO and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation obtained information that stolen property might be located at that residence. Upon entry to the residence officers discovered suspected methamphetamine and obtained a second warrant from the court to search for drugs.
“This is the second search warrant executed at this location,” Bellendir said. “Sheriff’s officers previously executed a search warrant May 19, 2017, and recovered stolen property as well as drugs.
Novotny was out on bond at the time of this most current arrest.”
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the KBI.
