A horse-drawn buggy reportedly stolen from Barton County is one of numerous items recovered by the Barton County Sheriff’s Office recently, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said Thursday. Detectives have recovered more than $12,000 in stolen property, he said.

The BCSO had a busy week last week executing several search warrants in relation to stolen property. BCSO detectives executed six search warrants in the course of three days.

According to a BCSO new release, the warrants were the result of several arrests over the last few weeks.

“Warrants were executed on vehicles, sheds and garages,” Bellendir stated. “Several burglary cases in Barton County were cleared because of these warrants. Detectives also discovered evidence in cases from Rush County and Stafford County.”

The buggy was reportedly loaded up and removed from Barton County, then sold to an individual in South Dakota where it was recovered.

Other recovered items included jewelry, tools, household items and electronics.

Bellendir said the investigation is ongoing. “Detectives will continue to follow the evidence where leads take them.”
