A motorist called 911 at 1:54 a.m. Sunday to report rolling her car after swearing to miss a deer. She said was not injured but the car was on its side in the 100 block of NE 10 Road.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports this was an injury accident. The car was a Toyota Camry driven by Emily J. Ochs, 21, of Quinter. Ochs and passenger Derrick A. Whitt, 27, of Monroe, Mich., were examined by Great Bend Emergency Medical Service and released at the scene.
After swerving to avoid the deer, Ochs over-corrected and the vehicle turned approximately 150 degrees. The car struck the ditch and rolled three-quarter times.
Kansas Highway Patrol also assisted.
Another injury accident was reported at 11:33 a.m. Friday on West K-4 and NW 70 Ave. No information was available from the BCSO as of Monday afternoon.
